Every October, millions help to raise awareness for a disease that affects both men and women; breast cancer. Contributing to research, sharing information, supporting early detection, and promoting understanding during this time can help save numerous lives.
With medical breakthroughs and ongoing advancements in treatment, many people are living longer, healthier lives after a breast cancer diagnosis. This month, we aim to celebrate survivors, honor those we have lost, and inspire everyone to take action through supporting research institutions, self-care, and providing support.
A Survivor's Story: Virginia's Journey
“I am celebrating 22 years as a breast cancer survivor. I credit my survival not only to my excellent healthcare treatment and the amazing medical professionals who supported me but also to the lifestyle habits I developed early in life. Regular screening, self-examination, and being mindful of my body led to early detection, which made all the difference.”
Despite not having a family history of breast cancer, I was diagnosed, which might be attributed to environmental factors and stress. My doctors emphasized that my general health played a key role in my ability to respond positively to the treatments ahead. I underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy—facing a tough journey to recovery and healing. While the experience was challenging, I am deeply grateful for my more manageable recovery compared to other patients, and I remember those who were not as fortunate.
In my post-treatment journey, I focused on strengthening my immune system and adopted a holistic approach that included daily fresh vegetable and fruit juicing for 15 years. Please remember to consult your healthcare provider before undergoing any holistic therapy.

The Importance of Self-Care and Mental Wellness
One of the most effective ways to identify cancer early, is to prioritize annual or bi-annual checkups and perform self examinations. However, life can become overwhelming and stressful to a point where many neglect these essential self-care habits, particularly when they are invested in caring for others.
Karmascore can remind you to prioritize your own wellbeing, as well as indicate if toxic or unhealthy relationships could be contributing to your stress. When you are physically, emotionally, and mentally healthy, you can give more to those you love, without giving up your own wellbeing.
